The little brown bin below the sink in the kitchen should have a green/brown eco-friendly bag (NB, important: this one is itself biodegradable, and thus a bit fragile) where all the compost is collected - such as food waste, chicken bones, egg shells, paper towels, etc. Collect plastic, glass packages, paper packages, metal packages and news papers/magasins separately. Throw rest-waste in a regular plastic bag, this is ”combustible”, it is supposed to be burned. This is ”other waste” which can not be recycled.
Note: it is important to make the separation for recycling, the bin for combustible garbage will be full otherwise.
Bring all garbage including recyclable goods to the house for garbage disposal close to the parking. Compost and combustible rest-waste shall be brought to the right door where the house key fits. The brown bin is for the green/brown compost bags and the black bin is for rest-waste.
Do not forget to lock the door by pressing * – this part of the garbage disposal house is only for “Smågårde 2”. The middle door has a combination lock with a passcode (press * code * to unlock). Behind this door there are bins for newspapers/magazines, plastic packages, paper packages, metal packages and probably also glass containers. Bottles and metal can also be taken to “igloo-bins” which can be found close to bigger supermarkets. It is also possible to visit central garbage collection plants located in Visby or Klintehamn where glass and other waste can be disposed of.
If you find the waste disposal procedure cumbersome, you can buy a garbage sack (135:-) used for mixed garbage in a supermarket (e.g. “Bysen” at Tofta strand) and leave it in the waste disposal room to the right above or at a designated place close to the roundabout near the ferry check in.
